Teaching Practical Sewing Skills. Building Future Opportunity.

Sew Fabulous Academy was created to teach practical sewing skills in a way that is welcoming, supportive, and connected to real-world opportunity.

At the Academy, sewing is not treated as something that only belongs to experts, professionals, or people who grew up around a machine. Sewing is a skill that can be learned, practiced, strengthened, and used for life.

For some students, that means gaining confidence, completing a project, or learning how to hem their own pants. For others, it may become the beginning of Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship training, part-time work, or a new career path.

Why Sew Fabulous Academy Exists

Sewing skills are practical. They are creative. They are income-building. They are also increasingly needed.

Sew Fabulous Academy exists to help meet that need by creating a clear, supportive pathway for people who want to learn real-world sewing skills and explore opportunities in alterations, embroidery, and studio-based sewing work. As the need for skilled sewing talent grows, the Academy gives students a place to begin and gives the community a way to develop more trained, capable people for this important work.

Angela’s Teaching Philosophy

Angela believes people learn best when they feel supported, not embarrassed.

That is why Sew Fabulous Academy emphasizes clear instruction, patient teaching, hands-on practice, and progress over perfection. Students are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, try again, and build confidence one skill at a time.

The goal is not to overwhelm students with technical jargon or perfectionism. The goal is to help them leave with practical skills, pride in what they have created, and a clearer sense of what they may want to learn next.

A Workforce Pathway & DOL Apprenticeship Program

Sew Fabulous Academy is part of a bigger vision: building a local pipeline of skilled sewing talent.

Through workshops, a Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship program, and current job opportunities, the Academy helps identify and support people who may be interested in sewing for work. Instructors pay attention to students who show interest, care, consistency, patience, and skill development. When someone shows promise, Angela may personally follow up to explore whether they would ever consider sewing for work.

Department of Labor-Approved Apprenticeship Program

The Sew Fabulous Academy apprenticeship program is Department of Labor approved. Three apprentices have already graduated, and graduates receive a certificate from the Department of Labor.

Angela is refining the program into a clearer, more structured pathway with three progressive sewing apprenticeships that build on one another. Some apprentices may be happy with the foundational level, while others may choose to continue into more advanced training.

As the Academy grows, future apprenticeship opportunities may also include administrative support, business or marketing support, and operations management.

What Makes Sew Fabulous Academy Different

  • Beginner-friendly and confidence-building

  • Rooted in real-world sewing skills

  • Connected to Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship training and workforce development

Whether someone joins for a single workshop or continues into a deeper training pathway, Sew Fabulous Academy is designed to help students build skills they can use beyond the classroom.

Start With One Skill

You do not have to know exactly where sewing will take you before you begin.

You can start with one workshop, one project, one technique, or one useful skill.

Your first class may simply be a creative experience. Or it may become the first step toward something more.
